Rainpaw walked to the river with Swiftpaw. He looked at the stream uneasily. "You sure this is a good idea?"

Swiftpaw trotted merrily beside him. She gave him a nudge, "Come, on. You can do it." she smiled, "Start over there in that slower-moving pool." she meowed, flicking her tail in the direction.

Rainpaw nodded and slowly wadded into the pool. He took a few easy strokes then started to go more quickly. "Water's a little cold, but this is so cool!"

Swiftpaw smiled and jumped in, water splashing in all directions. In a few moments she broke the surface, maw open as she gulped in air. The tabby she-cat looked at Rainpaw and laughed, "You're doing great!"
